Dental Bonding

Dental Bonding in Chicago and Bloomingdale

If you need to repair minor chips, cracks or gaps without undergoing a more complex procedure, dental bonding is an excellent less expensive solution. Damaged, discoloration and misaligned teeth can all be fixed with the use of natural tooth colored filling material. Though this is a less expensive solution, Dr. Patel and our team do not recommend bonding if you have multiple large fillings or cavities in your front teeth or if the gap is large. Most bonded fillings last about 3-5 years and require minor touch-ups over time. Like all the filling materials at Pure Dental Spa, our bondings are BPA-free.

Advantages of Bonding

If you find yourself with chipped, stained, or a cracked tooth and are looking for an immediate solution, dental bonding may be the right option for you. There are several advantages to dental bonding compared to other cosmetic procedures:

  • It’s SAFE! It involves little or no removal of enamel or tooth structure
  • QUICK! Typically, the dental bonding can be completed in one appointment
  • LONG LASTING! Depending on how well you maintain your oral hygiene, the longevity of bonding can last up to a few years
  • A LESS EXPENSIVE solution compared to other cosmetic procedures such as veneers and crowns

How It Works

Dental bonding often require little or no use of anesthesia, unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Dr. Rajul Patel and her team of dental experts will match the shade of your tooth to the correct composite resin color. The entire dental bonding procedure, depending on how many teeth are being treated, can take up to 30-60 minutes.

First, we recommend completing a cosmetic consultation to determine if dental bonding is the best solution for your oral health. Once you and Dr. Patel determine bonding to be the right choice for you, the procedure may begin. Our team of cosmetic dentists will prep the crack or chipped tooth by roughening and shaping the top surface, without removal healthy enamel. Next, an adhesive bonding agent will set on the prepped area to make sure the bonding composite is strongly set on the tooth/teeth. The bonding material will then be placed on prepared tooth, where a Pure Dental Spa cosmetic dentist will shape and apply layers of material as needed. A high intensity ultraviolet light will then be directly applied to the bonding agent to harden the composite. Finally, the tooth will be smoothed and polished to deliver a natural and perfected tooth!
