Get to Know
Alisa You Yeon Lee, DDS

Dr. Lee says that being a dentist is extremely rewarding, as she often meets patients who think there are no solutions for their problems, and she likes showing them that there is a positive path forward every single time. Nothing makes her happier than seeing someone smile after she has gotten them out of pain or fixed a flaw that has bothered them for years. She also loves that her job involves meeting new people every day, so she can’t wait to welcome you into our practice. Before that, you can learn more about her below.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

When Dr. Lee was younger and had just immigrated to the US from South Korea, she used to go to the free dental clinics at the University of Michigan. She decided that becoming a dentist was something she would want to do when she grew up that would also allow her to give back to the world. While in high school, she volunteered at free dental clinics, which gave her the chance to know that life in a dental office would be a good fit for her. Today, she likes that dentistry is always changing, so she is always learning.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Lee has a Bachelor of Science in Biomolecular Sciences from the University of Michigan, and she stayed there to earn her DDS degree. Since then, she has become an Invisalign Certified Provider, and she regularly completes continuing education through her memberships in the American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society, and Chicago Dental Society.

Outside the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

One of Dr. Lee’s favorite things to do is take long walks with her husband and their dog, a black miniature schnauzer. She is a big soccer fan and has supported Arsenal since she was a child. On laid-back days, she loves to watch TV—everything from Korean dramas to ridiculous reality shows and everything in between.
