Comfort and high-quality dentistry are Pure Dental Spa’s major priorities. We understand the fear and anxiety often associated with dentistry and recognize that many people avoid seeing a dentist because of those emotional responses.
Dental phobia is rather common, and that’s why Dr. Patel offers various methods of dental sedation to put you back in control of your oral health. Sedation dentistry is a beneficial tool to those who need more than just a routine cleaning. The oral surgeons at Pure Dental Spa will work with you on determining which type of sedation is best for you.
Based on your treatment needs and the complexity of your oral surgery, the oral surgeons at Pure Dental Spa may recommend oral conscious sedation. The dentists will prescribe you medication to alleviate anxiety, insomnia, agitation, seizures, and muscle spasms. The duration of the medication will be active during the procedure with minor side-effects after it wears off. Each patient is uniquely different on how they may react to oral sedation.
Nitrous oxide is administered through the nasal mask, where patients inhale a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. Patients normally experience a tingling sensation or light headedness that helps reduce anxiety levels. Patients are capable of driving home without an escort, as the gas is eliminated from the body within three to five minutes. Overall, the procedure is extremely safe and used on patients of all ages.
The oral surgeons at Pure Dental Spa may also administer intravenous (IV) conscious sedation to provide you comfort for complicated procedures. During this procedure, certified dental professionals will administer medication intravenously through your bloodstream. The medication normally works immediately and can be easily monitored. Patients feel little or no discomfort during the procedure. Normally, IV sedation is used for complex and lengthy procedures and a comprehensive health check must be conducted before administered.
For more invasive surgeries that require you to be numb and unconscious, we also offer general anesthesia that’s professionally administered by our in-house oral surgeons. Unlike nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation, general anesthesia ensures that you don’t feel any pain throughout your treatment.
